Survey results and discussion.
I recently gave out a poll to 10 young men ages 16-24. The question was “On a scale of 1-5 how willing would you be to buy an electric vehicle as your first car?” This question came before a discussion of the benefits and over life style of owning an electric vehicle. The average answer was around 3.5-3.8 our of 5 leaning more towards the yes side, but still not fully on board with the idea of purchasing an electric vehicle as a first car, but they wouldn’t say no. After they answered they answered the poll, I began to explain the various perks of owning an electric vehicle, the rebates, how financially doable it is under the proper circumstances, how nice the designs are starting to look, how smart technology is getting, and other various topics surrounding the idea of buying an electric vehicle. After about a 20 minute back and forth conversation comparing and discussing electric versus gasoline powered I handed out the same survey, again they filled it out but the results were a lot different. Compared to the first time the survey was given which averaged out between 3.5-3.8 this time the average answer on a scale of 1-5 was 4.8 only one person out of ten survey rated a 3 out of 5 not changing his mind. These results are quite shocking showing how if people actually know the truth and real details about electric cars, and how people can be benefited they’ll really change their mind and realize owning an electric car is not as bad as people think…. In fact it isn’t a bad idea at all.
